Clever Pups is Clever Canines’ puppy training program designed for puppies between old 8 - 20 weeks (2 to 5 months) old in Calgary. This important stage of development is when puppies learn the social and behavioural skills that will shape them for the rest of their lives.
Early training goes beyond commands; it’s about setting the stage for a lifetime of good manners and deepening the partnership and trust between you and your dog.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Your in-person puppy training classes are supported by an online resource library that includes videos demonstrating the skills taught in class, along with additional training tips and resources.
This allows owners to review exercises, practice at home, and keep everyone in the household involved in the training process. Consistency is one of the most important factors in raising a well-behaved dog. The resource library remains available for three months after the program ends, giving owners time to revisit lessons and continue building their puppy’s skills.

Clever Canines operates one of Calgary’s most established dog training facilities, designed specifically for both training and daycare programs. Our 10,000-square-foot facility includes three flexible training rooms and direct access to 7,600 square feet of turfed outdoor training space, allowing dogs to learn in multiple environments.
The facility was thoughtfully designed through more than twenty years of hands-on training and daycare experience to create a clean, calm, and comfortable learning environment for both dogs and their owners in Calgary.

Puppy classes are designed for both the puppy and the people who will be involved in their daily life. We encourage everyone in the household to attend so they receive the same information and can apply the training consistently at home. Consistency is one of the most important factors in raising a well-behaved dog.
There is no limit to the number of family members who can attend with the puppy. Anyone who will regularly interact with the dog, such as family members or caregivers, is welcome to join the class. -
Impulse control is a puppy’s ability to pause, think, and make good choices instead of reacting immediately. It’s essentially the foundation of good manners. Puppies who learn impulse control are better able to stay calm, listen to their owners, and behave appropriately in everyday situations.
In training, impulse control is practiced through many common skills such as loose-leash walking, waiting politely, leaving dropped items alone, coming when called, and settling calmly in new environments. As puppies learn these skills, they become more confident, relaxed, and enjoyable to live with.

Many families choose to bring their puppy once or twice per week during the program, which helps reinforce the socialization and behaviour skills being taught in class. Dayschool gives puppies valuable opportunities to practice appropriate play, learn social cues from other dogs, and develop the confidence needed to grow into a well-mannered adult dog.
The discounted package is available when registering for Clever Pups and can be added up to one week after the program ends.
